Tensor.NET Software Plugin for Capita SIMS
Capita SIMS access control, time & attendance solutions
The Tensor.NET Integration Module (plugin) enables schools and other organisations in the educational sector to link the Tensor time and attendance clocking and access control equipment with SIMS.
The software plugin allows students’ and staff’s attendance records to be imported into Tensor.NET, along with the details of their assigned proximity smart cards. Staff and students can then gain, or be denied, access to areas controlled by the Tensor T8526 Access Controllers, based upon their access permissions.
Key Features
Importing student identification data
Details of past and current students can now be exported from SIMS into Tensor.NET. An automatic facility imports these student details; their forename, surname, gender and start date. Students are identified in Tensor.NET by their UPN and grouped by their year and registration group.
Importing staff identification data
Details of past and current members of staff are also extracted. An automatic facility imports these staff details; their forename, surname, gender and start of employment date. Staff are identified in Tensor.NET by their NI code and grouped into a department allocated for staff.
Importing student attendance data
Following the extraction of attendance marks from the School Information Management System into Tensor.NET, configuration rules are applied as to how these attendance marks are treated. For example, attendance marks could replace existing clockings or be added as new entries. Different rules can be applied to every day of the week.
Card link facility for schools operating a card-based system
A card link facility is available for those schools that already operate a card based system. Recorded card details are extracted from the active directory and stored within Tensor.NET linked to the staff or student card holder.
Integrated fire roll call evacuation
As attendance marks are received by Tensor.NET, a cardholder’s roll call status is updated at the clocking equipment. This status is further updated as clocks and access controller units book staff and students on or off of the fire roll call evacuation report.
