Biometric Time and Attendance
Biometric time and attendance systems and solutions
With expert knowledge on industry challenges, a best-in-class approach, and over 30 years of experience, we provide innovative time and attendance systems. Our biometric hand scanners and biometric fingerprint readers are fully integrated with the highly modular Tensor.NET platform, and can also be operated with PIN codes and smart cards. For your clocking-in needs, speak to Tensor, the biometric time and attendance experts.
Fingerprint scanners and clocking-in stations for employees
Our biometric time and attendance clocking terminals support both thousands of employees and log thousands of clocking-in and out events, all with the ability to export to CSV files and payroll applications. With allocated door control and bell schedules, these clocking terminals have ultra-fast and secure biometric verification - with less than 1-second matching speed.

What does biometric time and attendance mean?
Biometrics is the technique of studying the physical characteristics of a person such as your fingerprint, hand geometry, eye structure or voice pattern. Biometric methods of identification work by measuring unique human characteristics as a way to provide irrefutable proof of identity, for example, finger or iris scanning or dynamic signature verification.
The main application of biometrics is the identification and verification of individuals. It may be done by a variety of methods, the most popular of which are fingerprinting, iris/retinal scans and facial recognition scans.
The benefits of biometric time and attendance systems
Biometric time and attendance systems make sure that employees are only paid for the hours they work, removing any and all opportunities for fraudulent time claims because each employee’s fingerprint is scanned and matched to verify attendance.

Biometric Hand Scanners
The HSCAN Hand Scanner Terminal Series provides the accuracy and convenience of biometric technology and easily integrates with the Tensor time and attendance software. It represents a practical and very precise solution for a significant number of usage scenarios, from coal mines to clean rooms.
Noticeable benefits
- Saves money over card-based systems
- Eliminates badges
- Eliminates buddy punching
- Fast and easy to use
- Provides the most accurate time and attendance solution available
With the HSCAN Hand Scanner Terminal Series, there are no cards to create, administer, carry or lose - since each unit will identities in less than one second, based on the unique size of their hands.
Enhanced security and accuracy
Because no one can punch in or out for your employees, this biometric time and attendance system reduces time theft and improves payroll accuracy. The costs and risks associated with credentials that can be lost, stolen or duplicated without authorisation are also eliminated.
Anti-microbial protection
The biometric time and attendance systems contain a silver-based anti-microbial agent-which is embedded into the materials used to produce the platen, providing a finish that inhibits the growth of a broad spectrum of bacteria, mould and fungi and remains active for the life of the system.
Hand geometry biometric technology
The HSCAN Hand Scanner Terminal Series is built around the concept of hand geometry biometric technology. The terminal captures an image of the hand each time the employee punches. The hand's size and shape are used to verify their identity with unparalleled accuracy. No finger or palm prints are utilised. The technology works well indoor as well as in harsh environments.

Our experts have compiled a comprehensive guide covering all you need to know about biometric time and attendance - from how the systems work to how your business should utilise the hardware to get the most out of it.
Biometric Fingerprint Scanners
Housed in an elegant case and easy to use, the Tensor T34xx Series Biometric Fingerprint Reader has been designed to meet the requirements of those who want absolute assurance that an employee is physically present at the time of clocking.
The reader is designed for use as an extra access control, time and attendance point also capable of reading smart cards. They are compatible with Tensor’s access control card readers, allowing you to mix fingerprint reading and non-fingerprint reading scanners on the same security network.
The fingerprint scanning window is a thick, heavy-duty glass that resists scratches and other stress to ensure long term usage. Once registered on the fingerprint scanner, the image of the patterns usually found on one's fingertips is converted into a code through a secure algorithm, which is then stored on a database for future comparison and authentication.
Whenever registered users have their fingerprints scanned, a comparison is made between the live fingerprint and the stored fingerprint template and if the two match, the event is saved in time and attendance controller database.
